Effective Learning

It is said that children are God’s gift. And we need to nurture them with love, care and make them responsible individuals – individuals with their own identity.

Same kind of approach cannot be implemented to all. Each and every child is different and has a potential to succeed if given a proper base. That uniqueness or specialty has to be identified. Children are seeds that need to be nurtured everyday so that they grow, flourish and be independent. For that, we need a different outlook and a different approach.

Why is it , when so many children go to school, only a few excel ? or why is school not so interesting ? The answer to it is the teaching methodology. Earlier, the emphasis was just on education as a formality and not much on learning. But learning is very important to make education effective. Now to survive in this competition we need a methodology which caters to children as individuals and enhance their learning process. Making lesson plans as per the child’s requirement, aptitude and likes may seem a bit tedious, but it is the need of the hour. This is specifically important in the early school days of a child. Nowadays, many schools and parents have accepted this approach. Having said so, it is really interesting to see how this new approach works. And I experience this first hand !

Working as a preschool teacher comes with lots of challenges. Settling your children in the initial stages, setting up a routine for them, looking after their safety, selecting topics that would interest them, topics that are suitable for their age group and above all making the activities more interesting is certainly a task in itself. But as a teacher it is equally very important that you give children the time to grasp a concept. Repetition and revision of the concept is the key. Rushing to finish the syllabus unnecessary builds frustration as a teacher, which reflects in your teaching ,making the child confused. Therefore, it is very important that a teacher remains focused, with the sole aim being the overall development of the child. Remember, A Happy and focused teacher makes a happy and focused child !

And hence it is necessary to make learning an interesting process. This can be done with continuously interacting with children, making them learn in a play way method, telling stories, asking them question, giving them a positive atmosphere and involving parents in the development process so that they can give us a feedback and we can work together to make a confident individual.
